\nAs I formulated the personal and peer checklist assessment and the rubric for guide's assessment, I realized it will give us a balance method of rating our students because the personal assessment gives credit to what is going on inside the student which may not be seen or observed by the teacher, the peer assessment gives credit to the interaction students have with each other and finally the teacher's rubric for assessment gives credit to the totality of the presentation. Summing all the points will give a holistic credit to the effort and performance of the students. \n1. The three day seminar workshop is a very enriching experience for me and for my co-fydp guide.It is a grace filled day
\nbecause everything we recieved and have shared made us more equipped and full of
\nhope to accept the challenge of the times
\nto bring our students where we would like them to be in their journey grounded in St. Ignatius Loyola's journey too as a pilgrim.

\n2. The critical friends we have helped us more to see things which we did not see and sense in making our modules. Their suggestions are well taken and are incorporated in our changes made for the modules.The modules became more simple and are really more appropriate to the needs of the students we will serve.

\nWonderful is the word i have for the 1st day I had with the group who took up "Authentic Assessment Using Scoring Rubric. Funny but what i felt was more important to me than the facts I gathered. My spirit was lifted up. I felt so in touch with God as I suceeded balancing my time with work and motherhood. I made it a point that I shared my thoughts at the forum as a result of active listening. I was fascinated by Maam Eding and Maam Melanie because of the sincerity exhibited by their enthusiasm to share. "teach me how to be generous" sparked like bulbs in my mind as I recalled that song we sang. I felt so in touch with all the friends around. True, they are all my friends there. I didn't hesitate to eat a lot of cookies just so we succeed at testing our rubric for the world's best chocolate cookies. Not afraid to find my blood sugar soaring high ha ha ha . . . . \nAFter the full day training yesterday on syllabus making and assessment, the learnings that were striking to me were:
\n
\n1. The framing of objectives, considering the new developments in the criteria for setting objectives, i.e. SMARTER. In this new criteria, evaluation is underscored, which may be both teacher and learner centered.
\n
\n2. The guide for setting up objectives using the condition, behavior and criterion, truly is helpful considering its logical flow and cognizant to the student centered principle, which is the emphasis of teaching methodology for the 21st century.
\n
\n3. The different ways of assessment also is very helpful especially my new found method: checklist.
\n
\n4. The process of the training which was interactive, was also a good reminder and served as inspiration in continuing a active learning approach (which I believe in) I use. I enjoyed the chocolate chip game which made me realize the beauty of rubric as an assessment tool.
\n
\n5. The importance of monitoring\/assessing students' performance assured me of the way I feel we, as teachers, re-frame our evaluation methods for our students. Using this method, we shifts from being the authority of learning to a mentor\/guide. This method also eases up our evaluation process of students' performance.
\n
\n6. The hands-on experience in reviewing a specific module in FYDP, as an application of our learning, truly was motivating.
\n
\nI look forward to reviewing our FYDP modules for a more student centered and teacher friendly modules.

As a teacher, it calls a lot of challenge to form individuals - from the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills however, beyond the concepts, skills, and values . . . . the teacher faces a significant role to deliver everything in order to form individuals. The challenge calls for every educator that learning can always happen when one provides the NEED OF EVERY LEARNER. Therefore, a shift should happen to us . . . a call for a student centered formation in answer to the hidden needs of every student in the classroom. \nI cannot think of something else other than the thought that education must be student-centered. This philosophy of education is not entirely new since Plato, a Greek philosopher, had mentioned this in his book the Republic.I would like to quote Plato's metaphor of education that learning is not as if your giving sight to blind eyes but it is about turning the head to see the light. This simply means that the teacher's role is simply to facilitate the whole learning process and let the students themselves discover the truth that will unfold before their very eyes.
